The Thunder King is coming! The Thunder King is coming!
So, by the end of the month, we are expecting 5.2 to launch. We’ve all got the data download message in our launchers. So what does the upcoming patch mean? What can we expect from the Thunder King?
Well, here goes:
I’ll give you the bright and shiny rundown, but you can read the official PTR and patch notes here. I will also be shooting some of the more-or-less confirmed rumors, as well.
First and foremost, tonight, we will be focused on raiding.
The Throne of Thunder is a new raid. This is a continuation from the Lorewalker Cho story line matching the Spirit Kings story line in Mogu’shan Vaults. The Final Boss, AKA the “Thunder King,” is Emperor Lei Shen, who was the first emperor of the Mogu. He died in a fight with the Pandaren Monks in Vale of Eternal Blossoms. The cause of his death is unclear, but he’s back, and he’s ready to fight!
While 10-man raiding is now more popular due to the gear changes after Wrath of the Lich King, 25-man will now have a bigger chance to drop the Thunderforged Items, which are higher quality versions of items that drop. 25-man raiders have felt punished for a while now, and this is Blizzard’s attempt to bridge the gap between 10 and 25.
In the zones of Heart of Fear, Mogu’shan Vaults, Heart of Fear, and Terrace of Endless Spring now have an aura buff, which decreases the damage of the bosses inside by 10%.
Along with regular raiding, the changes to LFR are also pretty major. Each time you wipe in LFR, you will get a stacking buff that increases health, damage done, and healing done by 5%, stacking up to a maximum of 10.
The chance of getting personal loot in Raid Finder and the chance of a successful bonus roll in Raid Finder have been greatly increased in 5.0
In LFG, when you look for a random group instead of, say a guild group, you will get extra valor points for:
Siege of Niuzao Temple: 5 bonus Valor Points
Scholomance: 10 bonus Valor Points
Shadow-Pan Monastery: 15 bonus Valor Points
Completing the Scenarios listed below will give 5 extra valor points:
Brewmoon Festival,
Greenstone Village,
A Little Patience
Theramore’s Fall
Heroics now award 100 justice points, and Scenarios now award 50 justice points.
You can also earn reputation from doing your first Heroic or Scenario for the day, which will help ease the rep grind.
Next article, I will cover more of the patch content, from bosses, pvp, and professions!
Now, a little side note:
I want to hear from YOU, dear reader! What topics do you want me to cover? I plan on covering PVP, Raiding, Content, and Lore. Do you want something class specific? Do you have any questions/comments/concerns? Opinions on the game itself? Please, feel free to get a hold of me DevenDarling@gmail.com. I love feed back!
Thank you for reading! Lok’tar Ogar! (If you’re Horde,) or For the Alliance!
